One of the purposes of NEFCA is to provide educational material to its members so that they may expand their scope of practice and improve their knowledge, skill and judgment in providing the best foot care possible. Being a member of NEFCA gives Foot Care Nurses networking and educational opportunities. However NEFCA is not a licensing body, and therefore cannot be held legally responsible to ensure that all NEFCA members follow professional practices. NEFCA does not oversee its members’ level of training, skill, or work ethic. Nurses are charged with the lifelong responsibility while in the profession to self-assess, seek education, and meet all standards and professional guidelines as set out by applicable regulatory agencies.

When you visit NEFCA’s website (excluding the Members area), you do so anonymously (meaning you don’t tell us who you are). If you make an inquiry from our Contact page, we will ask you to provide your name, email address or other personal information for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.

We do track the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of users who access our website. This information is used for the statistical purposes of observing general user traffic through different areas of the site.

Information gathered from logging IP addresses may include the type of browser used, the date and time of a user visit, and the pages visited while on the site. No personal information can be extracted from these records that would identify individual visitors.

NEFCA’s website stores a random string of text in a cookie to track each unique user session on the website. Cookies do not store any personal information and expire when your browser is closed.

Pages that require a username and password also use cookies to “remember” users.

Each website has its own online privacy policy. If you access other sites through links on NEFCA’s website, that organization’s online privacy policy applies.

NEFCA permits linking to pages on this website, provided links are set up to open in a new browser window/tab, so the page can be viewed in its intended context. NEFCA does not permit any linking to its website that misinforms users about the origin and ownership of NEFCA’s content.

NEFCA collects personal contact and business information as part of its membership registration and/or event and exhibit registration processes. NEFCA does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it is collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. (See Consent for more details). NEFCA retains personal information only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes, or as required by law.

Members who have a “member’s only” account are responsible to keep their information (Profile) up to date and accurate. Data that is collected using a form on the website is stored on a secured server. The service security is verified daily and the status can be accessed by clicking on the green “armour” icon at the bottom of the page footer.

All membership fees and other transactions such as event registration fees and exhibitor fees, are charged in Canadian dollars and include Ontario’s Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) of 13%. Online transactions are processed using a 3rd party application (PayPal), which maintains Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to ensure the integrity and privacy of the personal and credit card information. As such, NEFCA does not collect personal transaction payment details. Contact the payment tool’s security and privacy policies for more details.

The knowledge and consent of the individual are required for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information. Through a member’s online profile or original paper membership registration form, consent is sought for:

1) adding a member’s business contact information to the public Find a Foot Care Nurse search tool,
2) sharing member contact information with other members, and
3) receive emails as the main form of communication between NEFCA and its members.

Personal contact information may be used to send periodic mailings from NEFCA (both by email and mail delivery) about upcoming events, or other important information and deadlines.

NEFCA is an independent, voluntary health organization and does not approve, endorse or recommend any specific product or service.
